More Sets Coming Soon

Well, I managed to attend several of the bigger gaming conventions this summer, and I got a glimpse of the new sets coming out this year from Upperdeck.

First off is "Soul of the Duelist". This set should start shipping sometime in September. This set, unlike previous sets, will only have something like 60 cards in it, since we are now getting the same sets that are sold in Japan, instead of two Japanese sets combined. This set will also give us the same foiling on cards as the Japanese sets, so we'll finally have Ulimiate Rare cards! ^_^

Next I think is "Dark Beginnings". This set is a reprint of the early sets that are now out-of-print. So new players should have a chance to get some of the hard-to-get cards like Mirror Force and Exodia.

The last set, and I'm not sure if this is going to come out this year or not, is "Rise of Destiny". What little I have heard or read about this set, is it's Machine heaven. Lots of new machine monsters and cards that work with machine decks.

Also, we have another set of Collector's Tins on the way. The big change this year is that the tins aren't based on chachters anymore. Now we'll get 6 never before seen outside of Japan promos. They are:
Blade Knight
Command Knight
Insect Queen
Obnoxious Celtic Guardian
Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight
Total Defense Shogun (Yay! A personal favorite)
There's also something called the Masters Collection Tin coming out, but I'm still trying to dig up some info on that.

Forbidden List Comes to America

As I'm sure most people are aware of by now, the Japanes Forbidden list will begin being used at various tournaments. I've heard a few people complain about the new list, but most of the players I know are excited to see this happen. Why, you ask? Because now people won't be playing the same cookie-cutter decks that have been the main-stay of the game for awhile now. By not allowing certain cards to be used in tournaments, players will have to become better at designing decks, and we'll see a lot more experimental decks out there. Now, for those who really don't want to use the forbidden list, at least Upperdeck as made use of the list optional, so you should be able to find a store that doesn't use the list.

For those of you who are looking forward to the new forbidden list, here it is:
Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End
Dark Hole
Delinquent Duo
Graceful Charity
Harpie's Feather Duster
Imperial Order
Mirror Force
Monster Reborn
Raigeki
Sangan
United We Stand
Witch of the Black Forest
Yata-Garasu

The restricted and limited list will be updated at the same time as the new forbidden list, so if you want a glimpse at those, click here to go to Yugioh-Card.com.
